About The Class
Studio Art
In this course, students will be developing both their skills and personal style in the mediums of drawing and painting. The beginning of the year will be dedicated to learning the very basics of two-dimensional visual art; line, form, shade, value, color theory, and more. With these tools, students will be able to focus on developing their own artistic style through several long-term projects. Looking forward to this year and especially to seeing all of the new student work! Art History I This introduction course is dedicated to teaching students about the history of art spanning from paleolithic to just before the invention of photography. We will be focusing on works from a multitude of cultures and time periods. The goals of this course are for students to be able to recognize the traits of art works from the covered cultures and eras, to compare and contrast art works and art movements thoughtfully, and to conduct their own research about the subject. Field trips to local museums will be mandatory and the dates for these trips are available on the Course Calendar and Assignments page above. About This SiteOn this site, students and parents can find information on their class, the rules and policies expected for their class, the course calendar, recent assignments, and helpful links; such as links to local art museums, online galleries, and more. There are also digital interactives that have been chosen to aid students in both courses.
